Visiting Barcelona in 2 days: Guide (EN)

✈️ Why Barcelona ?

Barcelona is a large city (the metropolitan area has about 5 million inhabitants), 10 million tourists per year, the largest park in the world, very original architecture, and simply incredible gastronomy. People dream about it, stroll through it, and enrich themselves there.

In short, Barcelona enjoys a unique heritage in the world.

One might think that visiting this gem in 2 days would be a challenge; but if well undertaken and planned in advance, your stay will allow you to see the essentials and feel the city vibrate.

👉 To save time, book your visits in advance with skip-the-line tickets. Essential!

If you prefer to broaden your visits and determine your own routes, do not forget that Barcelona has a bus, metro, or tram service that will allow faster travel.

Mandatory: in order to have 2 beautiful days of visiting, choose flights with early morning arrival and late evening departure, and of course, accommodation in the city center.

The Aerobus is an excellent solution for getting to the center of Barcelona from the airport (Duration 35 min, cost about €10 and frequency every 5 to 10 min)

🌍 Day 1

Morning from 9 AM:

  • Visit the Sagra Familia (the architectural masterpiece),
  • Not far away (10 min) you can visit , Casa Mila and/or Casa Batlló (the uniqueness of these buildings has made them famous worldwide),
  • Head over to the Palau de la Música Catalana (one of the most beautiful music halls in the world),
  • A 15-minute walk will take you to the pedestrian avenue La Rambla, the artistic heart of Barcelona; perfect for a bit of shopping,
  • A few hundred meters away, you enter the Gothic Quarter, the historic center of the city with its cathedrals, squares, and typical shops,
  • Finally, dine at the historic port with its many restaurants or tapas bars.

👉 This itinerary is optimized and the suggested sites are located more or less 1 km from each other, giving you time to visit these monuments.

You can have a quick lunch, and there will be plenty of options, but don’t forget that you only have 2 days to discover this city!

It is not recommended to visit the Sagrada Familia on Sunday (opening at 10:30 AM)

🧭 Day 2

  • Visit the MOCO Museum where you can find contemporary works such as those by Warhol, Banksy, and even Dali (opening at 10 AM),
  • 800 meters away, you will reach the Boqueria market, a large covered market where you can see all sorts of stalls and have something to eat,
  • Take public transport to reach the lush Park Guell (another work by Gaudi) to recharge after the bustle of the Boqueria,
  • If you have time left, just a stone's throw from the park, gather your courage and climb up to Turó de la Rovira which overlooks the city. It's an impressive spot!

⚠️ When to visit and for what budget

  • You can visit Barcelona three quarters of the year, from March to November

  • Avoid tourist periods (early July to the end of August) and Sunday returns

  • Like any very touristy city, the most expensive part of this trip remains accommodation.

  • The price of a round-trip ticket from a major French city starts at €90
